Teeing off into the Blogosphere

It always seems to happen the day we ship the magazine to the printers. The course record that we just chronicled as “forever standing the test of time” is shattered, or the charity tournament we just highlighted has changed its date or venue.

Through the last seven years of either writing for or editing this magazine, that is really the one glaring drawback I’ve been able to find with the publication.  It seemed that no matter how hard we strived to keep golfers up to date, it could never be totally done. It is, of course, the simple reality when you are printing a month in advance, not to mention wrapping up your last issue in late July, just when the local leader boards are starting to sizzle.

While our production schedule has not changed, the dilemma of keeping you better informed on a daily basis about breaking golf news has eased thanks to the new North Shore Golf Blog (www.northshoremassgolf.com/wordpress).

Launched in May, this blog will hopefully offer something for everyone. Check it out and you will see that we have already posted several audio slide shows that bring a whole new dimension to our tip drill features as well as some other slide shows on selected road trips and course reviews.

You can also cast your vote on the toughest par-3 to ace on the North Shore or simply peruse our growing log of all the latest hole-in-one reports that have come across our desk.
Another key feature of the blog is to post tournament results in a timely fashion, not just from the big local and state tournaments, but hopefully from club championships as well. Whereas in years past we would have to wait eight months for the first issue in the spring to report what happened in the annual North Shore Amateur in August, we can now post the winners that day.

How “in depth” can we go? Well, that’s really all up to you. Just like North Shore Golf is your magazine, so, too, is the North Shore Golf Blog. Once again we will rely on you to let us know what is on your mind and help fill us in with the local golf happenings at your club or favorite course.

So join in on the conversation. No subject is off limits. From what transpired on any of the major tours last Sunday to which local 19th hole has the best burger, we want to hear  your opinion.

Take a few moments and register for the NSG Blog today and get the ball rolling. We’ll make sure it finds the back of the jar.

I’ll see you out on the fairways,
